How does your company manage waste?
We refer to the management of waste in our Environmental policy, working closely with third parties to ensure hazardous materials are dealt with in the correct manner. As part of our continued efforts to gain ISO 14001 we have implemented a number of initiatives to ensure waste is reduced this includes working with suppliers to cut the amount of packaging.

We also carry out environmental audits which have indicated areas of improvement so we have implemented the following;
- Paperless office scheme - this includes the introduction of PDA’s, electronic invoicing to customers and online resource centre.
- Changing the fuel type of our vehicles.
- External work scheduling to minimise travel time and distance.
- Energy efficiency schemes regarding water and electricity usage within our Head Office. 


How does your company manage safety, keeps up to date with legislation, and transmits this information to its employees?

Complimentary to our IIP commitment, all engineering staff, regardless of experience, receive training modules relating to the principles of BS5839 (Introduction to fire alarm detection and alarms - design & maintenance) and BS5266 (Introduction to emergency lighting - design & maintenance).

We also ensure that all engineers have a third party assessed and certificated level of competency to demonstrate their awareness of health and safety matters.

Our training includes but not limited to the following;

- ECS/CSCS Card,
- Tool Box talks,
- FIRST AID awareness,
- Manual Handling awareness,
- Lone worker awareness,
- Safety using Scaffolding awareness
- Powered Access training,
- Working at Heights awareness,

- Coshh awareness,
- Using ladders & stepladders,
- ZAP Safety programme


Who in your organisation is responsible for Health & Safety?
Our Managing Director has overall responsibility for Health and Safety. To assist him in this roll, we retain a business Partner specialising in H&S, Quality and Environmental matters. He is IOSH qualified.

Additionally and as members of the ECA we are entitled to use the
H&S consultants, “Hascom Network Ltd” and we enjoy a direct “hot telephone advice line arrangement”. Hascom, are specialists associated with the construction industry, also provide the full suite of generic / site specific Risk Assessments.

We are also members of the British Safety Council and have achieved “Chas” accreditation. And finally, we are committed to the Governments ZAP initiative [Zero Accident Potential] functioned through the ECA and which is already showing reductions in accidents throughout the construction industry
